One extreme rafting trip in the Balkans – a trip in the vivid canyon of Osumi River in Albania and after this 2 rafting trips on the extreme part of Tara River in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Day one: we leave Sofia early in the morning. Our route is about 500km, passing by Skopie, near Ohrid Lake, and on our way we enjoy the beautiful scenery. In Albania a lot of bunkers can be seen, monuments from the communist period. In the evening we arrive in the town close to the river and we stay in a hotel.
Day two: after we had some rest we go to the canyon of Osumi River, which is about 15km. This is the most beautiful canyon in the Balkans, and in some places it is so narrow that a raft can hardly pass. Rocks with height 40-50 metres soar above the river, and during the rafting we pass by 15-20 beautiful waterfalls. The rafting ends in the centre of the town, close to the hotel. In the afternoon we have time to relax and to feel the town atmosphere. The accommodation is in a hotel.
Day three: transfer from Albania to Bosnia and Herzegovina. We arrive on the Tara River’s bank. The accommodation is in bungalows in a campground.
Day four: we get our equipment and are transferred to the starting point of the rafting on Tara River. During the trip we enjoy the beautiful scenery and extreme rapids. We pass by a beautiful waterfall, under which we can pass. The river color is sky blue, and it is so clean that we can see the bottom even on the deepest parts. Free time for relax. The accommodation is in bungalows in a campground.
Day five: we do morning rafting on Tara River and after this we pack our luggage and head to Sofia, where we arrive in the evening.
Recommended period: May-September.
Level of difficulty: we recommend you to have tried rafting on other rivers, before coming to the rafting on Tara River.
Needed things for the rafting trip: swimming suit, t-shirt and a towel, thicker clothes for the evenings, food during the trip.
