In the World Rafting Champs, held in Banja Luka in the period 17th-24th of May 2009, in the discipline Head to Head (H2H), X-club men’s team won the prestigious 6th place out of 33 teams.
On one of the runs, in which Bulgaria had to meet Spain, the Spaniards did not show up on the start and the judge decided to start it, our team competed with itself, because it was to make faster time. Not clearly why, although the run was already made and finished, the Spaniards showed up pleading they did not understand where is the starting point. The judges decided to make the run again, so our team had to do its best again. On this run the Bulgarians leaded to the Spaniards, but after collision of the boats and hit with a paddle, our men’s boat was cracked, so they beat up the Spaniards with a cracked raft.
The cracked boat was a problem for our team, as they had to keep on their participation in the tournament with the same boat, after its repair. After the repair the raft did not have the same quality. The female team gave its boat to the men and kept its tournament with the cracked boat.
The standing of the X-club men team in the different disciplines:
Sprint: 14th place, H2H: 6th place, Slalom: 28th place, Downriver(12km): 22nd place.
