On April 8th, an extreme kayak competition took place in white waters down Struma River.

The significantly increased level of the river, due to heavy rains, led to a change of the track and the race was held on rapids ”2 out of 4”. Initially, the chosen track was on the Cascade rapid, but after consultation with the competitors, chief judges and rescuers securing the track, the organizer of the race changed the track.

The competition was tight and attractive. For the women, 6 competitors participated, and for the men 11 kayakers. A representative of the kayak community in Romania also took part in the men.

The main organizer of the competition was Rafting BG and friends, and the prize fund was provided by the municipality of Simitli, and the men in the first six places were distributed the following prizes (kayak, paddle, spraydeck, rope, waterproof boxes). In the women’s category, the first three competitors shared a vest, a paddle and a helmet.

2 rafting guides from Rafting BG were in the big 6, Ivan Dimitrov (3rd place) and Dobromir Mihaylov (6th place).

2. Nelly Angelova (number 5)
3. Yoanna Milanova (number 2)

The competition gathered many fans of this sport who have practiced it or are still practicing it.

In the evening the awarding of the competitors was held, after which a DJ warmed up the party of the rafting center of Rafting BG, which lasted until the wee hours.

We hope that in the next such competition the number of participants will be twice bigger.
