X-club teams came back from the World Rafting Champs, held in Banja Luka (Bosnia and Hercegovina) in the period 17th – 24th of May 2009.For a first time Bulgaria was represented from men and female teams on the biggest rafting forum. The championship organization was on a high level, the participants we accommodated in a very nice hotel in the centre of the town, and the whole town was emotionally affected by the tournaments on Vrbas and Tara Rivers. The opening ceremony held under the fireworks in the town centre, which did not retreat o the level of the tournament.
In WRC 35 nations took place, the men team were 33, the female 21. The disciplines sprint, H2H and slalom were held on Vrbas River. The downriver – 12km was held on Tara River, and the beginning part was in Montenegro territory. The teams were accommodated in cozy bungalows, which made the teams closer among them, although the competition in the river. After each discipline, the rank of the teams changed.
Slalom discipline was held on the electrified night track in Vrbas Canyon, which is good for night tournaments. The slalom is the most attractive discipline, and was a good final of the WRC by gathering about 10000 spectators and fans of this water sport.
X-club female team took the following places in the disciplines:
Sprint: 16th place, H2H: 16th place, Slalom: 18th place, Downriver(12km): 16th place.
After its participation on the biggest rafting forum and after its deserved break, X-club team will continue with the trainings on Struma River for the European Champs in 2010.
